You Gotta Do This!

Previously, I have written about the light display at Capilano Suspension Bridge. This holiday season, we discovered an even more spectacular display at Vandusen Garden’s Annual Festival of Lights. Of course, VanDusen Gardens is a popular destination in the summer but we were delighted by their wonderful Christmas display.

There are over a million lights covering 15 acres of grounds. Stroll along the well-lit paths to find whimsical characters, Santa’s sleigh, a giant hummingbird, woodland creatures and towering decorated trees.

You’ll find some toasty stops along the way for grabbing a hot chocolate, mini-donuts, coffee and a chocolate fondue station!

Be sure to dress warmly. The display is open no matter what the weather. Entrance is from 4 pm to 9:30 pm daily. Tickets are purchased on-line where you select an entry time. I advise either a very early or very late entry (8:30) if you want to avoid the crowds. Tickets are $17.50 and can be purchased here.

The lights reflecting in the the water features of the park create a stunning effect. Christmas music is playing to add to the festive atmosphere. Once you’ve visited the display you will definitely be in a festive mood!

VanDusen Gardens is located at 5251 Oak Street at West 57th in Vancouver.
