2018 was a difficult year. Lots of sadness and loss for my family, friends, my husband and me. As a physician, I also needed to help many patients deal with their personal losses – spouses, children, grandchildren sometimes taken in a sudden, tragic way. In fact, it was a patient of mine who lost her son to cancer who told me about a wonderful book that helped her with her grief. I downloaded it the next day and read it in one weekend. The book is entitled, BEARING THE UNBEARABLE by Joanne Cacciatore. It is an easy read, set up in short chapters which share the stories of people who have suffered withering losses. Highly recommended.
