Ok, recently I proclaimed that there was now ONE good reason to visit Vegas. Actually, there is a second reason to go. You need to check out the ARTE MUSEUM LAS VEGAS. It is so much fun!
This global chain of museums first started in South Korea in 2020. Since that time it has opened several namesake museums in places like China, Dubai and Hong Kong. The Las Vegas location is the first of its kind in North America with several new museums slated to open in the next 5 years.
The ARTE Museum in Las Vegas offers an immersive art experience that engages visitors through multiple senses. The museum’s diverse rooms incorporate natural elements with vivid visual projections, immersive soundscapes, and customized scents. Each room presents a unique theme, including endless waterfalls, tranquil ocean scenes, and vibrant gardens filled with camellias.
In fact, it’s hard to describe. You wander from exhibit to exhibit feeling that you are in another world. There is one room that projects ocean waves pulsating into the shore. It literally feels like you are walking on the beach in the starlight. Another room has a 7-meter-high waterfall cascading down in a mirrored room. It’s surreal.
One of my favourite rooms is Star where you walk through a mirrored room with suspended paper mache “stars” twinkling with changing colours. It seems as though you are in the middle of a universe. The illusion is infinite and evokes an “Alice in Wonderland” feeling!
But the absolute star of the show was the LIVE SKETCHBOOK. You take a sketch of an animal, (I picked the fox), then you colour it the way you want it and scan it into the projector. Then POOF! Your animal sketch is on the giant screen in front of you.
It was delightful to watch your character come to life on the screen and walk back and forth among the myriad of other animals. Ridiculously fun!
